Wealthy New York Mets proprietor, Steve Cohen, is partnering with Hard Rock International to construct a colossal casino and entertainment center adjacent to Citi Field in Queens. This endeavor, known as “The Mets Park,” boasts an $8 billion budget and seeks to convert a 50-acre parking area into a bustling destination.

The development pledges a diverse range of amenities, featuring an expansive 20-acre green space conceived by the celebrated landscape architects responsible for the High Line. Blueprints also encompass an arena, modernized public transportation, and a “Queens culinary marketplace.” Cohen and Hard Rock are emphasizing the project’s capacity to generate 15,000 employment opportunities.

This undertaking comes on the heels of Cohen’s attempt to secure one of the sought-after full casino permits in downstate New York. Nevertheless, the proposal encounters an obstacle as the designated location occupies state-owned parkland, necessitating a legislative measure for land procurement.

Despite the introduction of legislation to establish a gaming establishment in the Queens borough of New York City, the proposition faces a lengthy path to fruition. Should the legislation pass a vote, the endeavor would still require approval from a designated board comprising local government representatives.

Assuming it progresses to that stage, the state’s gaming commission would then determine the recipients of three available permits. An analysis conducted by Spectrum Gaming projected that a Queens casino could yield $1.9 billion in yearly earnings by 2025.

As New York’s expansion garners significant attention, it’s noteworthy that Hard Rock International has been diligently broadening its presence in both the lodging and gaming industries. Hard Rock International recently unveiled plans for the Algarve Hard Rock Hotel in Portugal, an initiative anticipated to create employment opportunities and draw visitors to the picturesque Praia da Rocha. Furthermore, the construction of Canada’s inaugural Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is in progress, with an anticipated completion date in the spring of 2025.

Within the domain of internet gaming, Hard Rock Digital has introduced the Hard Rock Bet platform in New Jersey, offering a seamless gaming experience for both online users and patrons of the physical sportsbook at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City.
