SkillOnNet Secures Portuguese Permit – Web-Based Casino – iGB
The Portuguese gaming authority, Service Regulation and Inspection of Games (SRIJ), has declared that white-label casino provider and operator SkillOnNet has been given a permit to provide games of chance in the area through the Bacanaplay.pt website.
SkillOnNet is permitted to offer slots, blackjack, and French and American roulette through brands aimed at Portugal.
This is the most recent brand to receive a Portuguese permit after Bidluck in June and Solverde in September.
A legislative proposal put forward in March called for more limitations on online gaming in the region in response to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, although the specifics of the limitations are unclear.
The proposal cites Spain as another area that has implemented limitations on the activity, as Spain’s new rules state that operators’ advertising can only be broadcast between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.
In October, SkillOnNet client Prime Gaming completed its brand transition to the supplier’s platform, following its prior partnership with Aspire Global. The Cyprus-based operator is reportedly aiming to expand its global reach through the transition.
In the first quarter of 2020, Portugal’s gaming revenue increased by 8.4% to €131.8 million (£114.4 million/$143 million).
Digital gaming profits skyrocketed by 47.5%, reaching a remarkable €69.8 million, a figure that is twice as high as the corresponding period in 2019.
Virtual casinos generated more than half of the total earnings, hitting €35.3 million, a substantial 56.5% rise, outpacing sports betting earnings, which also experienced a significant increase of 39.2% to €34.5 million.
